Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

EMDR helps people unlock their brain’s natural ability to reprocess disturbing life events. During an EMDR session, you don’t have to recount every detail of what you have experienced. Using bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones), you will be safely guided through reprocessing your experiences with minimal “talk therapy”.

EMDR is a research-based treatment that can lead to reduced symptoms of anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and PTSD. It can also help you internalize healthy thoughts about yourself, the world, and your safety around other people.

Luckily, EMDR is easily conducted virtually. We will decide together which form of bilateral stimulation you prefer – most options can be used during a virtual therapy session.

You do not need to have a PTSD diagnosis to benefit from EMDR–if you are interested in exploring this treatment, feel free to reach out for a consultation so we can discuss how EMDR might be helpful in addressing your specific concerns.
